Lori Rittman Clark has devoted her entire legal career to representing businesses in a broad spectrum of employment-related issues and disputes. For over 25 years, businesses have been turning to Lori for practical, strategic and value-driven employment law counseling and representation. Lori is admitted to practice in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire and has clients in all three states.
Lori regularly partners with her clients as a problem solver on day-to-day workplace issues, including employee discipline, high risk terminations, wage and hour issues, workplace harassment or bullying, employee complaints, reasonable accommodations and employee leave requests. As part of her employment counseling practice, Lori also drafts myriad employment documents that are both legally protective of her clients and reflective of best business practices, including employment agreements, separation agreements, disciplinary documents, performance improvement plans and employee handbooks.
When litigation is necessary, or the best strategic option, Lori represents businesses in employment-related litigation in federal and state court, as well as before administrative agencies. She has successfully defended employment claims including harassment, discrimination, hostile work environment retaliation, and wrongful termination and has litigated contract claims on behalf of employers, including non-solicitation and non-competition agreements.
Lori is frequently engaged by law firms and companies to perform independent workplace investigations into various matters, including sexual harassment and/or hostile work environment claims. Lori’s people skills, as well as the professionalism and discretion she brings to such investigations, have received accolades from clients.
Lori’s engaging and relatable employee training programs are in high demand. She develops and delivers training programs on a variety of workplace topics, including harassment awareness and prevention. Her qualifications as a trainer include having completed all of the “train the trainer” programs offered by the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.
Lori practiced law in Connecticut for approximately 15 years before relocating to the Boston area. She was previously a partner at Hinckley Allen and before that, Tyler Cooper & Alcorn in Hartford. She still has many clients in Connecticut.
Lori believes in giving back to the community in which she lives. She currently serves as an Advisory Board member of the Pettengill House, which supports and empowers children and families by providing education, comprehensive case management and basic needs. Lori also serves a member of the Board of Directors of the Newburyport Art Association.
